In response to the growing challenges of climate change and with a commitment to corporate social responsibility, National Dong Hwa University(NDHU)has partnered with Mennonite Christian Hospital to launch a sustainable healthcare project, officially inaugurated on November 7th, 2024. This collaboration aims to integrate sustainable development concepts into the hospital's core operations, with the professional support of the Center for Sustainable Development(CSD), NDHU, to jointly advance green healthcare and contribute to a sustainable future.

The Director of CSD, NDHU, Dr. Chun-Hung Lee, emphasized that NDHU has a long-standing commitment to sustainability in Hualien. In 2023, NDHU was honored with Taiwan's Corporate Sustainability Awards(TCSA)for University Excellence and a Gold Award for its Sustainability Report. This year(2024), NDHU achieved new heights, receiving the Top 10 Sustainable Model Universities Award and a Platinum Award for its Sustainability Report, showcasing the university's exceptional achievements in environmental protection, social engagement, and talent development. Director Lee hopes that the partnership with Mennonite Christian Hospital will extend sustainability concepts into the healthcare system, allowing academia and healthcare to work together towards a future of greater social impact.

Mennonite Christian Hospital's CEO, Wen-Hsin Chang, stated, "Sustainability is no longer just a trend; it is a crucial responsibility. As a healthcare institution, we must not only care for our patients' health but also the health of our planet. Through our partnership with NDHU, we hope to create a healthcare system that embodies environmental awareness, social responsibility, and robust governance."

Dr. Yao-Ming Hung, Head of Practice and Implementation, along with Dr. Sarah Chen, Head of Governance Strategy Division, CSD, NDHU, spoke of insights on how healthcare institutions can progress toward ESG-focused green sustainability. They also presented NDHU's sustainability report practices, detailing step-by-step implementation of various sustainability goals to offer Mennonite Christian Hospital concrete examples for its future development. Kintjan, Senior Specialist from Mennonite Christian Hospital, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the team of CSD, NDHU for their assistance and support. After the kick-off activity, the two institutions will work together to achieve the established goals and plans for a sustainable future.
